Dirk Poor

Before Morning

Hope is showing up before you know who else will.

Dirk Poor at the crossroads at evening, surrounded by the spool, lit streetlight, hoop and five empty seats — A fair trade. A light. A hoop. A knot. A glow. Somebody was out there. More than one somebody.

Dirk Poor sitting down on the spool under the streetlight at night — So that night, Dirk didn't go home.

Dirk Poor on the spool with his chin in his hands, watching the empty streets — For once, he was waiting. Just to see.

Dirk Poor asleep against the spool with his skateboard across his knees under the streetlight — Somewhere in the middle of the night, he fell asleep right there.

Dirk Poor waking up and stretching in the golden sunrise — He woke up to the sun coming up.

Wide dawn view of the crossroads with Dirk Poor smiling by the spool as fresh wheel tracks roll in from every direction — And down every street that led to the crossroads, fresh tracks were rolling in.

Hope is showing up before you know who else will.

One more run.
